Preceding him in death were his parents, his in laws Gerard and Margaret VanHaverbeke, 3 nephews Tyler Frerman, Timothy and Randy VanHaverbeke, great, great niece Charley Rose Quarles, 2 brother in laws Michael and Jerry VanHaverbeke, and sister-in-law Sharon.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years Mary Frerman, son Richard A Frerman, grandson Richard J Frerman, brothers Larry Frerman (Connie), Ronny Frerman (Shirley), Anthony Frerman (Beth), sister Barbara Alvey (Kenny), brother-in-law David VanHaverbeke (Revona), sister-in-laws Donna VanHaverbeke, Jane Beckner (Richard), Doris Schmitt, and Sarah Dyroff, his best man Steve Crowe (Miriam), and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Richard worked at L&N and CSX. He loved bowling, golf, puzzles, Elvis, and the Big Blue Nation (U of K). He bowled in many tournaments and worked on the sign and ecology committees for the TPC. He was a scout leader in Troop 279 when his son was younger and was one of the founding members, coached t-ball to baseball, volunteered many hours at Sabal Palm Elementary, and worked in First Baptist Church Preschool Sunday School. Richard was a veteran that spent 2 years in Vietnam as an army radar technician.

Visitation and service in care of Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills 850 St Johns Bluff Rd N Jacksonville, FL 32225. Visitation will be from 5 PM until 7 PM on Friday April 14, 2023. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday April 15, 2023, at 2 PM. A committal service will take place immediately after.
