

Rita Mae Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 12th, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on September 23, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, Rita was the daughter of Frances Pease and Myrtle Smith.
Rita lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and devotion to her family. Known for her spirited love of Elvis Presley, she was a proud and passionate member of her local Elvis club and had a remarkable collection that celebrated the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. Her weekends were often spent joyfully browsing flea markets and yard sales, always on the lookout for a special find or a unique treasure.
Family was the heart of Rita’s world. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her great-grandchildren, sharing stories, hugs, and moments of deep connection. She was their "Gigi". Her kindness and unwavering love will remain a lasting legacy in the lives she touched.
Rita is survived by her daughter Wanda (Wendy) Atkins and son-in-law Richard Atkins; her grandson Richard Daniel Atkins and his wife Jennifer Atkins; and her treasured great-grandsons David and Dean Atkins. She is also survived by her brother John Pease, who shared a lifelong bond with her.
She was preceded in death by her father Frances Pease, her mother Myrtle Smith, and her sister Norma Johnson.
Rita Mae Johnson will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her spirit lives on in the memories she helped create and the love she gave.
