

Rita Vriginia Tuten Lockwood, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 6, 2021.
Better known to all as Meemaw she was born in Savannah, GA to Ruby and Terrell T. Tuten, and has been a lifelong resident of Jacksonville. She was a faithful Christian from an early age, always looking for the opportunity to witness and share her testimony. She served many churches, and was a charter member of Highlands Baptist Church, and in her later years an active member of the North Jacksonville Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, Ramblers Leader and many more activities. While raising four children and participating with all their activities, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse working in local hospitals, later with a private physician until retirement. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Nile and Order of the Eastern Star, along with her husband in the Shrine and Morocco Temple activities. She loved her large family calling them her Tribe. One of her favorite places beside her home was the family get away on the St. Mary's River.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life for 58 years Kenneth (Pop) and the early death of her son Kenny. Rita is survived by her son Larry (Joyce) Lockwood, daughters Ginny (Ken) McKuhen and Nancy Hedrick Blom, along with 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She will be missed.
A Graveside service will be held at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL, 32205 on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 11:00 am.
