Ronald Lloyd Slonecker was born on June 8, 1946, the first child of the late Master Chief US Navy, Llloyd and Ruth Slonecker. He earned a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in History. He taught at Florida State College of Jacksonville for 32 years and he worked in a Federal government job for 34 years and 8 months as well. Ronald left unexpectedly on October 11, 2018 to be with the Lord. Ronald is survived by loving wife of 24 years and 4 months, Shirley Abellaneda-Slonecker and his son Michael; who was his pride and joy. He is also survived by his siblings Michael Slonecker (Patty), Lois Slonecker Casey (Dennis) and Ina Slonecker Bohannon, as well as his loving nieces and nephews Stephanie Casey, Ginny Casey Burns (Ray), Katie Casey McCay (Brent), Brendan Casey, Kelly Slonecker Rogers (Keith) and Rachel Bohannon. Ronald fought battles that no one realized and he fought them with grace and determination. He was truly a man to admire and will be greatly missed by all who loved him. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Fri., Oct. 19, 2018 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral services will take place at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 8523 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32221 on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:00 am, Burial Services will be at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park following the funeral service. Lunch will be served in the church Bizier Hall at 12:30 pm.
