Rosalie G Ponds, age 79, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020. Rosalie was the only child born to the late George Williams and Rosa Grant on March 13, 1941.

Rosalie was a dedicated matriarch and nurse who loved to dance and listen to Michael Jackson, Gospel and oldies music. She enjoyed traveling to museums, gardening and watching college football! She was a beautiful and caring soul who made friends wherever she went, even towards the end of her journey, as she endured the painful effects of her illness. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The love she gave rise to will forever remain in the hearts of all she touched. We will forever cherish our wonderful memories of her . . . until we meet again.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories and to celebrate her wonderful life, her loving mother, Rosa Grant of New York; wonderful children, Leslie Grant of Pennsylvania, Benny & Leah Lewis, Denise & Michael Jeffery, Flora Jones, Deborah Powe, Katrina Walker, all of Jacksonville, Florida, Antwaune & Amakeda Ponds, of St. Augustine, Florida; grandchildren, Shavon Grant (deceased), Stephanie Grant of Pennsylvania, Donita Crowder of Georgia, Nicole Kierce, Tony Lewis, Benny Lewis, Jr., Devin Powe, Shayla Davis, Norrelle Walker, Brandon Jeffery, Amya Jeffery, Jazmyne Ponds, LaShawn Powe-Wilson, all of Jacksonville, Florida, Akilah Ponds, Amir Ponds, Hasan Defense, all of St. Augustine, Florida; 21 great grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Flora, Denise, Debra, Katrina, Benny, God will see you through this time of sorrow. He will in time strengthen you to move pass this, weeping my endure for a night, but your joy will come in the morning. Know that your Mom love you all and it was nothing that she wouldn't do for yall. It's going to get better as time goes on to heal your pain that you all are feeling, you have all the memories that you hold in your heart and those can't be taken away. She is at rest and at peace. She is a treasure to you all; The grandchildren, and her great grandchildren she adore. You Mom and I talked at Norrelle's babyshower she was so excited for Norrelle and the new addition being added to the family, but most of all she constantly was thanking God that she was there and giving him all praise. She stood on what God had done for her. Keep hold to the memories that you have and God will do the rest. You all are in my prayers.😇❤

Biography

Rosalie Ponds, born on March 13, 1941, was the only child born to Rosa Grant and to the late George Williams in Charleston, South Carolina. She received her early education from the Board of Education of the City of New York and graduated with her high school diploma from The University of the State of New York Education Department.

Rosalie continued her education, post high school, with The University of the State of New York and obtained her AS degree with the Class of 1976! She obtained her license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the State of New York in 1976 and relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, where she obtained a second license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse, in the same year.

She thoroughly enjoyed her life and work as she tirelessly worked over 22 years in the medical/nursing field! Rosalie retired from the Duval County Health Department in Jacksonville, Florida, in December 2004 as a pediatric LPN.

She was happily joined in holy matrimony to the late Gorman L. Ponds.

On Sunday morning, November 8, 2020, our Heavenly Father called Rosalie Ponds to the sweet rest and fellowship of the angels in Heaven and said, "Well Done!"
