Rosemary Jones Skinner

January 13, 1936 – September 1, 2026

Rosemary Jones Skinner, affectionately known as Mimi, aged 90, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family and friends.

She was born on January 13, 1936 in Brunswick, Georgia, to Daniel Frederick Jones and Elizabeth Faye Jones, She was the second of three children born to Dan and Faye. Her brother, Robert Steiner Jones was born in 1929 and her sister, Danna Faye Jones was born in 1941. That same year (1941) the family moved to Jacksonville, FL where Dan served as a train engineer for Seaboard Coastline Railroad for 40 years.

Rosemary graduated from Robert E. Lee High school in 1953 and then attended Aurora College in Aurora Illinois. ,The summer before leaving for college she met Leonard Skinner, another Robert E. Lee graduate and he soon enticed her to marry him. They moved to Tallahassee, FL after marrying so Leonard could finish his degree. This experience laid the foundation for Rosemary’s passion for the Florida State Seminoles. After returning to Jacksonville, they had two children, Susie and Len just one year apart.

Rosemary always loved children….so it was fitting that she successfully ran several day care centers for over 15 years, filling many children’s lives with her infectious smile, her musical talent, and much love. Later in life she worked in the office for ARC Surveying where she was adored by all. And finally, she was the welcoming face (church secretary) of the Unity Church of Jacksonville.

Above all else, Rosemary loved her family and friends, finding her greatest joy in hosting, supporting, and spending time with those closest to her. She was also musically talented and played piano by ear, earning her the nickname “Mrs. Music. Everyone she encountered felt her warmth, kindness and compassion. She was truly an angel on earth.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Coach Leonard Skinner; her son, Len Skinner; her brother, Robert Jones; and her sister, Danna Myers.

Rosemary leaves behind a rich legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her daughter, Susie Moore, and her husband, Ron; her cherished grandsons, Don Ferreira (Michelle), Marshall Boston, and Chancellor Moore; Brother-in-law, Charles Payne and her loving nieces, Eugenia Bramlitt (Jimmy), Sarah Dan Jones, and Amanda Myers (Frank) and three beautiful great-grandchildren Trinity Grace, Logan James and Savannah Joy (Ferreira).

Her family extends a heartfelt, special thank you to her loving caregivers—Ro, Nicole, and Shonda—whose compassionate care during her final months brought comfort, dignity, and allowed her precious additional time at home with her family.

Visitation will be held at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205-6261, US, on September 12, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The Funeral Service will take place at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205-6261, US, on September 13, 2026, at 11:00 am.

The Committal Service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, US, on September 13, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
