

Roy H. Turner, 75, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Broxton, Georgia on January 19, 1937, he resided in Jacksonville for over 50 years and was a member of Son Baptist Church. He was a devoted and cherished husband, father, grandfather, & great-grandfather. Roy, affectionately known as “Mr. T”, retired as manager of Bakers Shoes after 42 years of service. He was an avid vegetable gardener who spent many hours tending to his crops. Roy is preceded in death by his grandson, Billy Turner, and daughter-in-law, Melissa Turner. He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Latrelle; sons, Steve Turner and Greg (Donna) Turner, daughter, Sharon (Joe) Jackson; grandchildren, Brandy (Levi) Hensiek, Kayla and Matthew Turner , Brian, Bradley, and Natalie Jackson; great-grandchildren, Ryder and Lily Hensiek; 2 sisters, Frances Bullard and Doris Moody; numerous sisters and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews. The family visitation to greet friends will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida 32205. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 at 2:30 pm, in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville, Florida.
