

Ruby Marie Oliver Cope, 90, of Jacksonville, Florida went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 after a lengthy illness. She was a much beloved mother, a loving wife, an experienced homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ruby left this world peacefully, surrounded by her family.
Ruby was a native and lifetime resident of Jacksonville and was the last survivor of her seven sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Alton Cope Sr.
Ruby is survived by her 12 children—daughters Dixie Bodway, Phyllis Cope, Sylvia Griffin, Camille Sweezy (Dick), Marilyn Spicer (George), Barbara Sheffield (Carl), and Lizabeth Waters (Billy); and sons Alton Cope Jr. (Kathryn), Johnnie Cope (Geraldine), George Cope (Jennie Cook), Miles Cope (Nora), and Morgan Cope (Kathy). Additionally she is survived by many nieces and nephews and more than 150 grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1679 Dunn Ave., with interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., in Jacksonville.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, February 18, 2011 at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida. 781-9262.
