Rufus Jefferson Gordon, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 4th, 2024 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born on October 16, 1942 in Macon, Georgia to the late, Rufus Jefferson Gordon Sr. and Maggie Gordon. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Agee, and his very special sister, Betty Byford. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Adams, his son, Jeff Gordon and his wife Debbie of Jacksonville, Florida, his daughter Allison Pearce and her husband Chris Pearce of Red Oak, North Carolina. Rufus was a loving grandfather to his three granddaughters, Alexa Provencher and her husband Brandon, Brianna Gordon, and Morgan Campbell. He also treasured the special bond he shared with his two nephews, Danny Mason and Andy Mason.
Rufus was a man who had a deep love for people and animals. He lived his life as a Christian and was dedicated to serving others. He proudly served in the United States Navy, exemplifying his commitment to his country.
Rufus had a passion for fishing and spending time outdoors. He found solace in nature and enjoyed the simple pleasures life had to offer. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
Rufus Jefferson Gordon will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His kind heart and unwavering love will forever be etched in our memories.
A funeral service to celebrate Rufus's life will be held on July 27, 2024 @ Macon Memorial in Macon, Georgia. Friends and family are invited to join in paying their respects and sharing stories of his life.
May Rufus Jefferson Gordon rest in eternal peace, knowing he made a lasting impact on the lives he touched.
