She was born on October 21, 1934 in Clearwater, Florida to Albert Rogers and Anna Fussell. She graduated from Lakeland High School. She attended Florida State University, and was active in the FSU Circus, Kappa Delta Sorority, and a member of the Garnet Key. She graduated in 1956 earning a Bachelor of Science degree in the School of Business. She was a member of the Seminole Boosters and Seminole Varsity Club for many years. She married her college sweetheart, John Griner, in 1956, and enjoyed 40 years of marriage together. Shortly after their wedding they settled down in John's hometown of Jacksonville, FL. Sally earned her Master’s degree at the University of North Florida in Administration and Supervision. Sally taught Business Education at Paxon High School for 10 years and Edward White Senior High for 23 years. She was chosen Outstanding Business Teacher in Duval County twice and Teacher of the Year two times at Edward White High School. She was the Assistant Principal for Curriculum at Ed White for 5 years. After retirement, she found joy and peace in her calling in studying God’s Word. She was actively involved in Bible Study Fellowship, and spent many years serving as a group leader. She was an active member and volunteer at Mandarin Presbyterian Church, and served as Deacon for many years.
Sally was predeceased by her parents; husband, John Griner; and son, Clay Griner.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mike Kozloski; four grandchildren, Kyle (Nicki) Kozloski of Tallahassee, FL, Ross (Diana) Kozloski of Tallahassee, FL, Hope (Mark) Roper of Mableton, GA, and Kara Kozloski of Smyrna, GA; eleven great-grandchildren, Emaline, Claribel, John David, Evie, George, Mayah, Kayla, David, Naomi, Aliza, Evan and a 12th on the way.
A visitation for Sally will be held Friday, December 2, 2022 from 4pm to 6pm at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205.
A Celebration of Life will occur Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 9:30am at Mandarin Presbyterian Church, 2501 Loretto Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32223.
The family will hold a private burial later in the day.
