Sergio F Arnaiz
October 9, 1944 – September 23, 2011
Sergio Francisco Arnaiz, 66, passed away at his home on September 23, 2011. He was born October 9, 1944 in Holguin, Cuba to Maria Josefa Bermudez and Sergio Arnaiz. He graduated from Colegio Marista in Cuba. He left Cuba at a young age of fifteen and moved to Spain. He lived in Spain, Miami, Puerto Rico, then moved to Jacksonville in 1976 where he became an active member and leader of the Cuban American Club. In his free time he loved fishing and boating.
Family members include his children, Sergio Manuel Arnaiz, Ania Maria Arnaiz Reyes, Carlos Octavio Arnaiz and Victoria Eugenia Arnaiz Shirk, siblings Josefina Arnaiz Rodriguez and Marisa Arnaiz Gonzalez, grandchildren Sergio Williams Arnaiz, Kayla Shirk, Taylor Shirk, Jacob Shirk, Michael Alfredo Reyes, Emily Anne Arnaiz, Nicholas Sergio Arnaiz, James Arnaiz, Maximiliano Arnaiz. He is predeceased by his brother Jose Ramon Arnaiz.
A visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. N., Jacksonville www.hardage-giddenschapelhills.com. The funeral mass will be held at 2pm, Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Following the funeral mass family and friends are invited to join them at the Arnaiz Shirk residents.

Tete y familia. Mis mas sentido pesame por la muerte de mi gran amigo Sergio. No saben la pena tan grande que senti al enterarme de su partida. Siempre lo recordare como una de las personas mas alegres que he conocido. Lo extranare y recordare por siempre.

Siempre recordaremos a Sergito como un ser extraordinario, simpático, alegre y optimista. Era agradable hablar con él por sus conocimientos y experiencias. Somos afortunados de tener a nuestra querida Marisa, su hermana, como nuestra nuera o mejor dicho, otra hija.

Sergio was a dear friend. The international trade trips we took together were memorable. I learned of Sergio's passing after the mass and was sorry I could not attend the wake or the mass. Sergio was a caring, fun person to be with. I shall miss his friendship.
