Sherod Willis Hodges, 85, went home to be with his Lord on January 27, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. Sherod was a member of the Hyde Park Baptist Church and the Sr.’s Men’s Sunday School Class. He served in the United States Marines Corps during World War II and the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Sherod retired from the Seaboard Coastline Railroad as a “carman” and also retired from Western Auto Supply Co. (Advance Auto). Sherod was an avid golfer and member of the Hyde Park Golf Club for many years. Sherod is preceded by his parents; Sherod A. and Eva Plummer Hodges; two brothers; Alfred J. and Doyle C. Hodges. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce and their son Gilbert W. Hodges, daughter-in-law Dorothy, 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Hyde Park Baptist Church; located on 2000 S. Lane Ave. Jacksonville, Fl 32210. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
