Shirley W. Broyles

Broyles, Shirley Wilson Hendricks Schmidt, age 83, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2014, in Jacksonville, FL. She was born November 27, 1930, in Zanesville, OH to Ellis and Violet Wilson. Shirley was a 1948 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and 1951 graduate of St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an RN for 42 years for some of the best Doctor bosses ever. She is predeceased by husband, Richard K. Broyles, Sr.; daughter, Kimberlee Hendricks; sister, Janice McLaughlin. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Roy) De Vries, St. Cloud, FL; granddaughter, Kimberly Rio, Jacksonville, FL; granddaughter, Sarah (Tom Hetler) Rio, Sterling, IL; three great-grandsons, Marcus, Anthony, Austin; “baby” sister, Phyllis Clark, Newport News, VA; many special nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, March 8th, at 11:00 am, at the Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL. Her favorite color is yellow and she would want us, to dress in bright colors, to celebrate her life.
