Shirley Jean Jowers

She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Jowers, son Shane Alan Jower, and parents Harry L & Gladys L Johnson. She is survived by daughter Sheila Merrow and grandson Seth Merrow, sisters Peggy Bullington, Wanda Kellogg, Paula (Gerald) Reliford, brother Leon (Jo) Johnson and Tommie Pearson, Chris Jowers, Leola (Bob) Bernhardson. She also had a multitude of nieces and nephews, cousins that spanned from Florida, Georgia and Alabama.

She was born on July 24, 1941 in Waycross GA, she moved to Jacksonville as a child. She graduated from Paxon High School in 1959. She married the love of her life Albert on January 13, 1962. She worked at Ryder Truck Lines until she retired. At Ryder she made life long friends and continued to see some at their Ryder Reunion luncheons. Over the years she enjoyed camping and traveling the United States. She loved to watch Sheila play softball and even coached a team for a few years. She enjoyed her visits, phone calls and cards from Glenn Parrish and Mike Norton. Later in life she enjoyed her flowers and sitting on the front porch with her friend Vonnie Cowart.

A visitation for Shirley will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A committal service will occur Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
