Shirley Jean Karnes, 65, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2013, in Jacksonville, FL. Her friends and family were by her side. She knew of only her amazing future ahead of her. Shirley was born September 14, 1947, in Alhambra, CA to the late Claude and Betty Mae Hargett of Los Angeles, CA. She graduated with honors from Aviation High School in Manhattan Beach, CA. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, crafting, decorating cakes for family and friends, traveling with her family, and playing with her precious grandsons. Shirley was employed at the Vistakon Vision Care Inc. for about 19 years and AT&T for 15 years. She leaves behind two sons James Karnes (Kelli) and Michael Karnes (Jana); daughter Kimberly Karnes; and two adored grandchildren Connor Karnes and Zackary Karnes. Family will receive friends and family 2:00 – 3:00 pm Saturday July 20, 2013 at Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm.
