Shirley Ann Thomas, 90, born September 12, 1934, in Rushville, Indiana to parents Donald and Katie Newman, she was the one of 12 children. Shirley died on October 13, 2024 in Hospice Care in Jacksonville, Fl.
After spending her youth in Indiana, Shirley arrived in Trinidad, Colorado at the age of 15. She met and married Norman in 1951. During their marriage they welcomed eight children in a 14 year span.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and Nanny. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the love of her life. She was a great example and center of her family and will be forever missed.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Katie Newman, devoted husband, Norman Alvin Thomas; Daughters Sandra Kay and Sharon Ann and 11 of her loving siblings.
Shirley is survived by her children; Debra Lynn, Cynthia Lou, Kimberly Ann, John Charles, Laura Lee, Alice Kathryn, 23 loving grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Hardage-Giddens Riverside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 PM.
