He served with the Merchant Marines during WWII. Sidney worked for and retired form CSX after 38 years of service.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville and the Shriners.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wade and Junie B. Rhoney, five brothers, and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Lillian M. Rhoney; sister-in-law Claudia M Ryan, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sidney was loved and will be missed by family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday July 13, 2015 at First Baptist Church, 124 W. Ashley Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202. Burial will take place at a later date in Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery in Charleston, SC. Funeral Arrangements are under the care of Hardage-Giddens Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205.
