Sid held a number of positions at General Motors for 34 years. First at the DeWitt plant, then transferring to plants in Michigan, Pennsylvania and then back to Western New York. He retired in 2003.
Sid was a loyal Fan to all Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Steelers. He was also a lifelong fan of Syracuse University sports, particularly basketball and football. He often sent text messages commenting on the team's performance as he watched the games in Florida. For years he participated in bowling leagues, and since his retirement and relocation to Jacksonville he was an active participant in the JPA Poker league.
Sid could make friends easily wherever he lived, which was a great asset when adopting the various cities, he worked in for GM. If he was your friend, he was your friend for life. He will be missed by many.
Sid is survived by his partner of nearly 50 years, James Hahn, his brother Redell Williams, sisters Tena Williams and Kelly Gibbs, and several nieces and nephews, with a special fondness for his nieces Jyvonna Mason & Ashley Williams. In addition to his parents Redell Sr. & Juanita, he was also predeceased by his brother, Steve Williams.
As Sid's wish was to be buried in Syracuse, there will be calling hours for his friends in Jacksonville on October 21, 2026 from 12-3pm, at the Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St Johns Bluff Road North, Jacksonville, Fl, 32225.
