Somers Edwin Leeds IV, 83, passed away November 29, 2023. He was born October 09, 1940 in Jacksonville, Florida and resided with his wife, Josephine, of 59 years in Middleburg, FL. He is the son of Somers E. Leeds III and Mary Elizabeth Leeds.
He leaves behind many beloved friends and family: Josephine (Jo), his wife, son Daryl (Susan)- grandchildren Francesca (Michael), Millicent, Jarrod (Emily). His siblings’, Sharon, Kenneth (Sherri) and Sandra. Nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to name.
Ed loved to cook. When cooking at home, he always made enough just in case someone popped by. For several years he was one of the main cooks for the Supervisors Social Club. Every Thanksgiving they fed over 200 people. Ed would not hear of his grandkids eating popcorn from a bag-it had to be homemade. His love of music started when he was a drummer in the marching band. He enjoyed all genres of music but classical was his favorite. Ed enjoyed tagging along to Biloxi with his wife and his siblings to try his luck with the slots. Grans, as he was called by his 3 grandchildren (whom he adored), had a great sense of humor, loved playing cards and loved a good conversation about his grandchildren.
Known to his coworkers, family and friends as Somers, Ed or Eddie, he was an aircraft electrician for the NADEP at NAS Jax for 33 years. During this time he earned a degree from UNF. After retiring from the NADEP, he bought a laundromat because he always wanted to run a business.
A graveside service will be held for his immediate family at Memorial Park.
