Stephen Paul Cogswell

Stephen was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 23,1969 and later moved to Jacksonville, Florida where he attended Alden Road Exceptional Center and received a Special Certificate of Completion. He worked briefly in the restaurant industry, and before that participated in Special Olympics. Stephen enjoyed entertaining others including acting in plays. He loved Jesus and the Bible, and everything Wizard of Oz, especially Scarecrow. He enjoyed coloring, word search puzzles, and watching football, where every team was HIS team! No matter what he was doing or where he was, he enjoyed life to the fullest.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Russell Cogswell, Sr, his mother, Virginia Mary Paine Cogswell, his sister, Linda J. Decker, and his nephew Thomas K. Lemn.

He is survived by his sister, Susan L. Lemn and family, brother, Edward R. Cogswell Jr. and family, sister, Nancy J. Chew and family, sister, Ruth E. Green and family, brother, Howard J. Cogswell, who cared for him after his parents passed away, along with his spouse, Margaret J Cogswell and family, Gloria J. Cogswell and family, and brother David J. Cogswell and family. He has 20 nieces and nephews and 32 and growing, great nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the Terrace of Jacksonville, that cared for him in later years.

A Celebration of life will be held at Fruit Cove Baptist Church, 210 N Ridgecrest Ln, St. Johns Florida on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 10 am.
