On February 12, 2019, Master Sergeant Stewart Lee “Kiwi” Bowles of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away as result of injuries received in a motorcycle accident. We lost a husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. An avid motorcycle rider, Lee loved life and lived it to the fullest. A 33 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Lee served honorably in post 9/11 service as a crew chief for the 125th Fighter Wing of Jacksonville FL. Lee, an active member as 3rd Vise and rider of the American Legion Post 137, was preparing for retirement in 2020. Beloved husband of Shelby (nee Wieda) Bowles and stepfather of Allen Rutland; loving father of Stewart and Crystal Bowles; adored grandfather of Madison, Morgan, Emily Grace, Synthia, and Michael Bowles; dearest brother of Ann, Chuck, Dale, and Robert Bowles; also survived by many relatives and friends. Lee was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Lee Bowles (nee Lugenbeel); father, Phillip Stuart Bowles; son, Craig “Peewee”; brother, Norman and sister, Donna Bowles.
The family will be present on Thursday, March 7, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Avenue. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, 5755 Ramona Blvd. Burial services with military honors to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road. A reception will be held at the American Legion Post #137, 5443 San Juan Avenue. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Lee’s name to the Patriot Guard Riders of Florida.
