

Sue Elaine Dykes, 62, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 26, 2010. Predeceased by her father, James Douglas Craig, mother, Mildred Louise Barrett and a niece Joy Louise McCollum, survivors include husband, James Lindley Dykes “Jimmy”, 3 children; Leesa Lloyd (Joey), Brian Dykes and Jeremy Dykes (Sarina), grandchildren; Carley, Tori, Lawson Lloyd, Kassidy Register, Baylor, Joseph and Kyle Dykes, Macy and Abree Dykes, Saryn Parman, sister, Anita McCollum (Ernest), In-laws, Joe and Alice Mitchell, sister-in-law, Linda Overstreet (Richard) brother-in-law, Jack Martin (Lori) and many nieces and nephews. She was raised on a mission field in Peru from age 8 to 18 yrs, where she learned to speak Spanish fluently. At 18 she came back to the states where she attended Tennessee Temple College and met and married her husband Jim Dykes of the last 40 years. After graduating in 1972 then moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where she lived and raised her family. She was a teacher at Trinity Christian Academy for several years of her married life. She quit teaching to raise her 3 children and has been a homemaker since. She was a member of First Baptist Church, downtown Jacksonville. She had been a member there for 34 years. She was a beloved Sunday School Teacher for many years and also helped lead in the Spanish Ministry at First Baptist. She has touched many hearts and lives with her kind and giving spirit. Not only did she have a love for others and her family, but she also loved her Heavenly Father and had a close relationship with him. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, daughter, memi and friend. She will be remembered always for her sweet and loving heart. We love you Memi with all our hearts and we will miss you very much. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 8081 Lenox Avenue. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
