Sylvia went by many names through her life: Mama, Granny, Aunt, cousin, and friend. She was known as a hard worker her entire life. She would sell shrimp from a stand from Tampa all the way to Jacksonville. She cared for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren until her health declined and she was no longer able to. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Any time she had the chance, she would brag about them. When her children were grown and then her grandchildren got older, she would babysit for different families in the community. And, as those children grew, they would keep in touch with her. Sylvia was a straight-shooter. She didn’t sugar coat anything. If a thought came to her mind, she would share it quite bluntly. That was part of her charm. Sylvia loved her family and her family loved her. She was a member of First Baptist Church Middleburg.
Sylvia lived a long and blessed life. She was 90 years old when she passed. We rest in the hope of knowing she is with Jesus and we will see her in Heaven again one day.
A Graveside service will be held at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205, US, on May 11, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
