Born on August 8, 1959, Terri was the daughter of Sallie Avis Hammer and Jimmy Hammers. She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, where she would later find her greatest joys and create a loving family of her own. On this journey, she met and married her soulmate, David Minchew, with whom she shared many years of laughter, love, and companionship.
Terri's greatest joy in life was her family. She was the loving and nurturing mother to Dale Withers and Brandy Withers. Her heart knew no bounds when it came to her role as a grandmother, as she cherished her precious grandchildren, Mariah Withers, Dale Withers Jr., Rylin Matthews, and Ophelia Matthews, showering them with love, wisdom, and endless support. One of Terri's simple pleasures in life was her faithful companions, Ollie and Shylow. She found solace and comfort in their loyal presence, and their bond brought her immeasurable happiness. Terri had a special appreciation for the beauty of nature and the simple joys of life. She had a unique habit of waking up early to watch the sunrise over the serene Jacksonville horizon, a daily ritual that filled her heart with tranquility and wonder. A proud alumna of Ed White High School, Terri was a dedicated mother and grandmother, prioritizing the well-being and happiness of her family above all else. Her selflessness, unwavering love, and kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her love of watching the sun rise, Terri Leigh Minchew held a passionate devotion to her beloved Jacksonville Jaguars. As a diehard fan, she stood by her team through the highs and lows, celebrating their victories and remaining steadfast during challenging seasons. Come rain or shine, win or lose, Terri never missed a Jaguars game, and her enthusiasm was infectious. Her love for the team was a testament to her unwavering loyalty and her ability to find joy in the camaraderie of sports. On her final night on Earth, her spirit was lifted as she witnessed the Jacksonville Jaguars triumph over the Miami Dolphins, preserving their undefeated streak. This victorious moment was a fitting testament to her enduring spirit and her unbreakable bond with her cherished team. A Celebration of Terri's life will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 2 PM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. The visitation will begin at 12:30 PM until service time at the Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.
