Therese "Terry" Evelyn Engel

Therese “Terry” Evelyn Engel, 91, went home to be with the Lord on September 25, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born Evelyn Marie Ferguson on April 9, 1924 in Lynn, Massachusetts, daughter of Arthur S. Ferguson and Margaret M. Mills Ferguson. In 1968 she married Robert W. Engel, Sr. and adopted his three children.

Terry had a long and successful career as a purchasing agent for several different companies in south Florida before moving to Dunnellon, FL when she retired, but she will be best remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother to her own two children as well as her three adopted children, and beloved “Nana” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was active in her church until health problems prevented her participation.

Terry was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Arthur H. Ferguson, and her sister Ruth Ferguson Snow and stepson Richard Engel. She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Engel, Sr., sons Joseph Kelly (Evelyn) and Robert W. Engel, Jr. (Georgeann), daughters Maureen Kelly, Nancy Engel (Chuck Ver Straeten), and Janice Engel Bellinger, stepson Thomas Engel (Jane), ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookdale Atrium Way and the wonderful people at Community Hospice for providing support and comfort to Terry and her family during her final illness

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the auditorium at Brookdale Atrium Way, 9960 Atrium Way, Jacksonville, FL 32225.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a donation in Terry’s name to the Disabled American Veterans or to your favorite charity.
