

Thomas Ansel Horne, age 87, passed away on September 10, 2016 after a long illness. Thomas was born on January 31, 1929 in Live Oak, Florida to Homa and Elnora Horne. Thomas was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Orange Park, Florida. He was an active supporter of the Salvation Army and the Clothes Closet and Food Pantry in Orange Park. Thomas served in the United States Marine Corps. He was an avid Florida Gators fan and loved to hunt and fish.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Jo Horne; one son, Terrell T. Horne (daughter-in-law, Martha, who passed away in 2015); two daughters, Kim Horne Frank (R. Horton Frank) and Leigh Horne Mebel (Roger L. Mebel); three grandchildren, Sarah Noble Frank, Elizabeth M. Horne, and Joseph Tyler Horne; three brothers, Homa J. Horne, JR. (Maxine), Calvin Horne (Annie Lee), and Ira Horne (Claydell).
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Orange Park, 1140 Kingsley Avenue, on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at eleven-thirty in the morning with Rev. Stanley Puckett officiating. Visitation will begin at ten o' clock in the morning at the church. Graveside committal services will be held at two-thirty in the afternoon on Wednesday at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Boulevard.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, First Baptist Church of Orange Park, Clothes Closet and Food Pantry of Orange Park, or a charity of choice.
HARDAGE-GIDDENS TOWN AND COUNTRY Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Boulevard, is serving the family.
