

Born in Warren, Ohio he was a son of the late Howard C. and Grace E. Kost Hunter and moved to Jacksonville from Ohio 13 years ago.
Thomas retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of proudly serving his country. He earned the Air Force Commendation, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense, Air Force Oversees short tour ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, and the Air Force Training Ribbon.
He worked for Portus as a heavy duty mechanic for 13 years. He was a member of the American Legion post 283, a life time member of the VFW, Director of the American Legion Riders for American Legion post 316.
In his free time he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding his motorcycle, and participating in many charity rides and events.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Christopher L. Hunter. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Hunter; daughters, Stephine Lewis and her husband Gary of Ohio, Kimberly Haynes and her husband Joe of South Carolina, Stacy Hunter and her fiancée John Check of Ohio, Melissa Trachsler and her husband Jayson Trachsler of Texas; grandchildren, Tyler Wesolowski, Bailey Wesolowski, Samantha Haynes, Morgan Haynes, Ethan Haynes, Skyler Hunter, Savannah Storer, Tristen Hunter, Izabella Hunter, Haley Lunn, and Katelynn Trachsler; brothers, Charles Hunter and his wife Terry of Ohio, and Harry Hunter and his wife Betty of Ohio.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 2pm with Chaplain John Quinn officiating.
The family will receive friends on the same day from 11:30am until they leave in procession (approximately 1pm) at Hardage-Giddens, Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. N Jacksonville, FL 32225 904-641-9755.
