Thomas Dwight “Tommy” Jackson, 80, went home to be with his Lord on June 19, 2018. He is now home with his bride of 43 years, Dorothy C. Jackson and son Todd Dwight Jackson. Tommy was born and raised in Northwest Georgia, but lived in Jacksonville most of his life. He served with pride in the U.S. Navy from 1956 - 1960. He retired from AT&T and JEA. Tommy’s favorite past time was enjoying his grandchildren, watching the Florida Gators, and talking about the Lord. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He never met a stranger, always talked about his love for the Lord and led many people to Christ. He welcomed many missionaries into his home and supported their ministries.
Surviving him is his loving family including his sons Kurt (Allene) Jackson, Scott (Rhonda Wrye) Milligan, and Jimmy Milligan; sister Teresa McDaniel; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two nieces; and several cousins.
Tommy’s Homegoing will be celebrated on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service at Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Community Hospice and the staff at Acosta-Rua Center for Caring, for their loving care provided to our father, brother, and grandfather. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Tommy’s memory be made to Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
