Vernon was a good guy, very generous with his friends and loved to be with them all the time. He loved to tell stories and always had them laughing. He was from Chicago but lived most of his life in Jacksonville; that's where he got his nickname Yankee.
Early in life he was a boxer; that's why his nose was crooked. He loved his Chicago bears and Jacksonville Jaguars football team and always had a game on. Vernon also loved playing golf; he won a hole on one tournament once. He was a hard worker all his like doing all types of construction work.
Vernon's surviving relatives are his two children Peggy Meier Eiler, daughter; and Randy Douglas Meier,
son; grandchildren from his daughter Alexandre' Gabriel Gourdon and Ean Lee Eiler, from his son, Jaden John Douglas Meier and Alexis Marie Meier; and great-grandchild, Jaxen Lee Gourdon.
The family would also wish to recognize his best friend Danny Walk, who was there for him by his side everyday; he loved you like a brother.
