Vivian J. Jackson, age 97, passed away March 10, 2024. She was the only child of Susie and Fred Johns. Born in Oglethorpe, Georgia, she moved to Jacksonville in her senior year of high school. She attended business school after graduation and soon after met her future husband, Charles, at church. They were married for 59 years until his death in 2007. Together they raised three children, Tracy Jackson (Terri), Angela Bare (Ron), and Archie Jackson (Lisa). She was a loving grandmother to Brad Jackson (Kristin), Erin Willingham (Brian), Kimberly Crawford (Yavesh), Kathryn Altenbach (Zach) and Julia Jackson. She was also blessed to have great-grandchildren, Lewis and Clara Jackson, Ella and Audrey Willingham, and Lisa June Altenbach.
Vivian loved being a mother and homemaker. She was a phenomenal cook and shared her love of cooking with her family and also with her church and friends. She made delicious and beautifully decorated homemade cakes including groom’s cakes for all her children’s weddings.
Flowers and birds were an important part of her life. She loved arranging flowers from her yard and was a longtime member of the Salvia Garden Club. She also served on the flower committee at Hyde Park Baptist Church where she was a longtime member.
The family would like to thank the care team at Windsor at Ortega for their excellent care and kindness.
