Bill served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and served through the Victory over Europe and continued through the Victory over Japan. After his military service he worked in the sheet metal industry helping build several buildings in the greater Jacksonville area. He was a member of the Local 435 National Sheetmetal Workers Association. Bill was an extraordinary family man who enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
Bill was preceded in death by Nora Janet Hayman and their son Frankie David Hayman; second wife Dixie Ann Hayman; and grandson Eric Jason Dunham. He is survived by four daughters Carolyn Martin and husband Jay Martin, Julie Baptist and husband Jeff Baptist, Shirley Dunham and Paula Fridell; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Kemp.
Bill will be laid to rest February 21, 2022, 11:00am graveside at Chapel Hill Memory Gardens, 850 North Saint Johns Bluff Road Jacksonville, Florida 32225.
