William Edward McComb, Sr., 87, of Palm Coast, FL., passed away January 28, 2012. Born on June 1 1924, Born on June 1, 1924 in Anniston, AL. He was the son of Andrew and Tallie McComb. William is preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Lois McComb, Dorothy McComb, Eldo McComb and Frankie McComb. He is survived by Bert McComb, wife of 63 years; daughter, Patricia Ann McComb Yellowbird of Mendicino, CA; ;son, William Edward McComb, Jr. of St. Augustine, FL and his wife, Sheila; blessed with 4 grandchildren, Shennondoah Buckley, Heather Catherine Buckley, Tiffany Tenille McComb Clifford, and William Edward McComb, III; and his brother, A.B. McComb of Lawtey, FL. He was a civilian barber, worked for Navy Exchange for 20 years at NAS, Jax. He then retired from Mayport after 18 years, as a barber. Then he moved to St. Augustine, when he retired. He then took on a retirement job at Osburn Barber Shop for 10 years. Later he moved to Palm Coast. He served in the Army, and was a World War II Veteran. He was married in Ypsielanti, Michigan. He will be missed by his loving wife (Dimples). His favorite hobbies were water skiing and camping. The family visitation to greet friends will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., at Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205. Followed by Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Town and Country Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL.
