

After graduating from Andrew Jackson High School in 1943, Bill attended Niagara University during his enlistment in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He flew as a member of the Eighth Air Corps on many European bombing missions. Bill was a member of the Methodist denomination all his life. For over sixty years he attended Murray Hill United Methodist Church where he served in many positions of leadership and sang in the church choir. Bill started working for the Railway Mail Service in 1942 and returned to the mail service after the war. He retired as a Tour Superintendent after 42 years of combined service.
Bill is preceded in death by his first wife, Louise H. Samble, his parents, Joseph and Laura Samble, his brothers, Gordon and Vernon Samble, his sisters, Doris Patterson and Carolyn O'Donnell, and his youngest daughter, Nancy Benton. He leaves his wife, Jackie R. Samble, his children, Karen Samble, Susan Wooden (Bob), William E. Samble, Jr, (Kathleen), three stepchildren, Ron Williamson (Jacqueline), Don Williamson, John Williamson (Lori), 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Bill was an honest, stable, and diligent man in all his endeavors who loved family deeply.
A visitation for William will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Hardage-Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A funeral service will occur Friday, September 20, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. A committal service will occur Friday, September 20, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Hardage- Giddens, Riverside Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32205. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association, Community Hospice and Palliative Care, or the ALS Association.
