William Dennis Sprouse, 70, of Jacksonville, Florida, slept peacefully away on March 31, 2020 at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, Florida. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on July 28, 1949 and moved to Florida as a toddler. He graduated from Lee High School and attended FCCJ.
He was married to Lynne Sprouse on May 31, 1996.
He volunteered at Baptist Health Downtown for several years, loving every minute he was helping others. He also took pride in being part of the City of Jacksonville Disabled Parking Enforcement Auxiliary.
He was a member for several years at Murray Hill Baptist Church followed by membership at Macedonia Baptist Church until his health precluded attendance.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynne, and his children Cynthia Todd (Joey) of Middleburg, Florida, and Scott Sprouse (Katina) of Gainesville, Florida, and stepchildren Charlie, Natalie, Todd, Mark (Tracey) and Michelle Royce. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several others who needed a grandfather.
Bill put up a long and brave fight for life. He was blessed with a heart transplant which gave him 12 more years. Although his health was poor, he was a loving husband, father, grand and great-grandfather. His nurses over the years said he was a jokester and kept them laughing. We want to thank the nurses, doctors, and other necessary staff at Baptist Health Downtown, Jacksonville Mayo Clinic, and Ascersion Health for helping in Bill's fight for life. He was especially thankful to the anonymous heart donor that gave him his last 12 years. We also want to thank the staff at Kindred Hospital for their kindness and caring and allowing Bill to comfortably and peacefully sleep into heaven.
Bill Sprouse will be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date. Hardage-Giddens Riverside is serving the family.
