Ed served in the United States Marine Corps. Having completed 1 tour of duty in Korea and 2 tours of duty in Vietnam, Ed retired as a Captain after proudly serving his country for 23 years. Ed also retired from United States Postall Service and owned a successful air conditioning business, as well as teaching electronics at the local community college. Ed was a jack-of-all trades and his granddaughters always claimed there was nothing he could not fix. He was also a member of Wesconnett Church of Christ.
He enjoyed traveling throughout the country with his beautiful wife and children. Above all, he valued every moment with his family, always cherishing every moment spent together. Ed was always willing and ready to help anyone who called on him, and he exemplified a serving attitude.
He is survived by his wife Mary Varnadore; children William E. Varnadore, Jr. (Margaret), Pat Varnadore Hunley (Stephen), Joe Varnadore (Julie); grandchildren Rebecca, Ashley and Jessica; great-grandchildren Sophie, Parker and Avery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or Community Hospice and Palliative Care on Sunbeam Rd.
A graveside celebration of life for Ed will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11am at Riverside Memorial Park, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32205.
