Born on January 31, 1929, to John T. and Grace Pollock McMinn of Jefferson.
Frances was a member of the Methodist Church.
On April 8, 2021, she lost the love of her life, her husband, Barney. What a love story! They were inseparable. They would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on September 18, 2021.
Frances graduated from Jefferson Morgan High School. She was an accomplished pianist and organist. She received her education in classical piano and organ at Waynesburg College School of Music and Ivy Hurst Conservatory. She taught piano and organ. Frances also performed up and down the East Coast, giving concerts and accompanying singers and instrumentalists. She played at many churches, schools, and colleges. She was involved in all facets of music. It was her career. She was also quite a tap dancer, singer and performer. She performed at the old Opera House in Vaudeville shows.
Her hobbies were collecting tiny woven baskets, unusual stones and finding four leaf clovers! She was amazing at finding them and had several hundred! She also enjoyed canning vegetables from her husband’s huge and beautiful vegetable garden.
They had a large in-ground swimming pool, which family, friends, and church parties enjoyed. Many people had been baptized in the pool.
Most of all, she was so proud of her husband’s many army medals, and especially the one he received from the Philippines government for his years of being in combat so they could have their freedom. It was the Liberation Medal.
She always said, “You will miss me, but oh how I will miss all of you, my grandchildren and the grandchildren growing up, going to school, marrying, having children and family life in general. God bless you all. I will love you forever."
Deceased is her brother Thomas J. McMinn.
