Dorothy J. Thomas, 92, of Southfield, Michigan, passed away on March 29, 2021. She was born in Rockville, Maryland on October 10, 1928. Dottie graduated from Delaware Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse. She was married to her husband of over 70 years, Charles P. Thomas, on February 26, 1950. Dottie had a career in nursing, working for Delaware Hospital; Doctors De Vinis, Park and Han; nursing homes in Richmond and Lynchburg, Virginia; and at Milford Memorial Hospital in Delaware. She always had a passion for knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, reading, and playing games. Dottie was a member of the Milford First Baptist Church in Milford, Delaware for 30 years and then the Heritage Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia for 30 years before moving to Michigan. She volunteered in the nursery and the bookstore and was an active member of Young at Heart Sunday school class. Dottie adored her children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was loved by all who knew her.
Dottie is survived by her husband, Charles Thomas; her children, Randy (Sylvie) Thomas, Debbie (Tim) Ozment, Susan (Joe) O’Day, Larry (Cheryl) Thomas, Michelle (Mike) Olesnavich; her 11 grandchildren; her 23 great grandchildren; her one great-great granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 3 PM, with a service beginning at 3:30 PM, at Family Funeral Care in Keego Harbor, Michigan.
