Jerry was born on January 27, 1932, in Flint, Michigan, to Edward and Evangeline McKelvey. He was preceded in death by his brother Edward. Jerry spent most of his life in Birmingham, Michigan. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954.
On May 11, 1957, Jerry married the love of his life, Ann McKelvey, in Dearborn, Michigan. Introduced through Ann’s late brother Ralph, their connection was instant, and their 68 years of marriage were filled with deep love, partnership, and laughter.
Jerry spent his career in transportation sales, a profession he approached with dedication and integrity. Outside of work, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures—hockey, fishing with the kids, and long games of Pinochle with family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann McKelvey, and his big, beautiful family: Michael McKelvey (Tracy), Diane Salk (Scott), Susan McKelvey, Audrey Dara (James), Corrine Perez Steiger (Kevin), Calin McKelvey, Brittani Paquin (Rob), Sasha Salk, Jacob Dara, Edith Salk, Sophia Dara, Jacob McKelvey, Andoni Garcia (Val), Julian Michalowski (Shannon), Myla Felice, Finnegan Paquin, and Parker Paquin.
Jerry will be remembered for his warmth, his wit, and the legacy of love he built through family.
A private service will be held for family only.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Society for Deaf Children.
