Greeta Coral Yarnold was born on November 28,1921 at Pontiac General Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. She was raised with nine other children by her father Robert and mother Cynthia. At a young age her father had an accident at work that left him paralyzed and in a wheel chair but he still took care of his children.
Greeta was very fond of her father playing the ukulele and he taught her how to play. She was always close with her sisters Emma and Ruth. Greeta enjoyed playing baseball with her siblings and the neighborhood kids. Her first marriage to Roger Sargent gave her two children Edwin Sr. and Roxanne and three step children Roger, Denny and Bruce. Her last marriage was to Lionel Francis Yarnold this was the love of her life. They had 30 great years together 23 of which they were married. Lionel (Shorty) passed away on April 06, 1991 it broke her heart but she still stayed strong for another 20 years and 20 days. They enjoyed throwing parties and playing pool. Greeta and Lionel met at the Pure Bar in Pontiac. They bought a house on East Columbia in Pontiac then got married on July 01, 1967. Years later they bought another house in Sylvan lake, Michigan which they remained in together until Shorty passed. They traveled around Michigan with the children and enjoyed life very much. Apart from the kids they had a beagle named Duke that always laid with Shorty. After Shorty passed Greeta got her first driver license at the age of 72, she was not the best driver but she got to where she needed to be. Greeta worked at Pontiac Motors for awhile but mostly was a homemaker. She was also a nanny to four Tommy, Kelly, Mitchell and Vinny who were just like family. She loved to play pool and not many people could beat her. Greeta also enjoyed shuffle board and cribbage. She watched CNN all day long and read the news paper every day. She loved the comics and crosswords but Dear Abby was her favorite thing to read. There are 8 grandchildren Lisa, Cristy, Cindy, Shane, Edwin Jr, Shanna, Audra and Tyler.

She also left behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Greeta was a wonderful person, very outspoken and outgoing and always talked Politics. She was spunky and was quick to put up her dukes or smack you upside the head. She was not the one to make mad but she was the one to give you all the love you could handle. She was her family’s rock and heart. She held the family together. She will be greatly missed by all who have known her. Love you Greeta Coral Yarnold
