Judith Petersen

PETERSEN, Judith “Judy”, age 75, of Sylvan Lake, died Friday, December 11, 2015 in Pontiac. Judy was born on May 9, 1940 in Lansing, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Sawyer) Porritt. Beloved wife of the late Martin Petersen, who preceded her in death in 2011. Loving mother of Chris (Lynne) Petersen and Kyle (Amy) Petersen. Dear grandmother of Benjamin Wilkinson, Samantha Wilkinson, Scotty Petersen, Justin Petersen, Erica Petersen, Annika Petersen, Lillian “Paige” Petersen, & Emma Kate Petersen. Also survived by her sister Jane Hegarty. Judy graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1958 and had attended Central Michigan University. She retired as the deputy clerk for the village of Sylvan Lake. Judy was a past president of the Pontiac School District P.T.A. and had also been a local election volunteer. She had a tremendous passion for Mackinac Island, where she began visiting at age 10. She met her then future husband Martin at Ft. Mackinac, and was married on the Island. Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 14, 7 p.m. at the Pixley Funeral Home, Godhardt-Tomlinson Chapel, 2904 Orchard Lake Road, Keego Harbor. The family will receive friends Monday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interment will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.pixleyfuneral.com.
