Mark Steven “Marko” Bambury, 67, of Pontiac, Michigan, passed away on October 24, 2026. Born on January 18, 1959, in Schenectady, New York, Marko lived life with an energy and spirit that were impossible to overlook. He was full of life and truly one of a kind. Marko had a way of making people feel like they had known him forever, and it often took just one meeting to understand why so many people loved him.
Marko was the son of William John Bambury and Joan Berger. He shared a special life with his wife, Diane Mary Davis, whom he married on November 25, 2008. Their connection was something difficult to put into words. As Diane describes it, “We were connected like mended souls and made lifelong friends and memories together.” Throughout their years together, they shared a love of live music, traveling, and spending winters in Florida visiting Marko’s mother, Joan, and sister, Cheryl. They also attended the Wheatland Music Festival together for many years, creating lasting memories and lifelong friendships along the way.
Music was woven into Marko’s life. His taste knew no boundaries, spanning generations and genres, from the classic bands he grew up with to the newest pop music. He simply loved music, especially when he could share the experience with others. He found happiness in cooking for friends and family, spending time on the golf course, and embracing the moments that made life meaningful. An exceptionally talented golfer, Marko often shot under par. He also treasured the simple pleasures, like feeding the ducks with his granddaughter, Emma. And if you knew Marko, you knew the tie-dye. It was rarely a question of whether he would be wearing it, but which one.
Throughout his career, Marko worked as a waiter at several restaurants throughout Oakland County, most recently at 5th Tavern in Bloomfield Township. He also spent time at The Capital Grille in Troy and Sylvan Table in Sylvan Lake, among other establishments. For Marko, the restaurant industry was about much more than serving tables. It gave him the opportunity to connect with people, build friendships, and become a familiar face to so many. He was attentive, genuinely interested in others, and remembered for the warmth he brought to every interaction. His regulars became friends, and those friendships often extended far beyond the restaurant.
Marko embodied peace, love, and kindness. His charisma drew people in, and his genuine interest in others made them feel welcome and valued. He had a natural ability to bring people together, whether sharing a meal, enjoying a concert, telling stories, or simply spending time with those around him. He was a friend to everyone, and the many lives he touched are a testament to the person he was.
Marko leaves behind his beloved wife, Diane; his mother, Joan Berger; his daughter, Leah Monique Jolgren, and her husband, Andrew; his siblings, Cheryl Bambury and John Bambury; and his stepson, Paul Vernon Davis. He was a proud grandfather to Emma Grace Jolgren and Caleb Joshua Jolgren, Leah’s children, and Amanda Nicole Davis and Emily Jade Davis, Diane’s granddaughters, whom Marko loved and considered his own grandchildren. He is also survived by extended family members and countless friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, William John Bambury, and his stepson, William Larry Davis.
Marko’s life was a celebration of connection, music, friendship, and finding joy wherever it could be found. He leaves behind far more than memories. He leaves behind friendships that became family, stories that will continue to be told, and a spirit that will live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Peace, love, and tie-dye, Marko. The world was a little brighter with you in it.
