Myrtle Catherine Schmidt (née Schrems), age 96, of Sylvan Lake, was born on November 19, 1928 into a large farming family in Saginaw, Michigan. She entered into eternal life on July 8, 2025. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Myrtle’s legacy is one of faith, love, and joy. She was quick to laugh, and her hearty laugh was both comforting and contagious. Generous in spirit, she extended warm hospitality to everyone she met—often through a fresh batch of cookies or her beloved rice pudding. People were naturally drawn to her kindness, and she formed lasting friendships throughout her life. Her unwavering faith was reflected in the words she lived by: "God is good, every day. Every day, God is good."
Beloved wife of the late Robert L. Schmidt. Loving mother of Patricia Schmidt, the late Robert J. (Colleen) Schmidt, Kenneth M. (Vickie) Schmidt, the late David Edward Schmidt, the late Joseph Edward Schmidt, and Margaret Owensby. Treasured great-grandmother of Roman Maassarani, Skylar Davis, Madeline Schmidt, and Benjamin Schmidt. Myrtle was the last in her family, having been preceded in passing by siblings and their spouses.
