Loving mother of Pearline (Kevin) Corby, Polliann (Kenny) Long; dear grandmother of Jayson (Abbey) Moore, Apryl ( Deem-Long) (James) Nelson, Tiara and Korey, and like a grandmother to Juanita Ball; great-grandmother of Ezra, Avery, and Josiah; caring sister of Leslie Bixby, Sylvia (Lawrence) Hildebrant, and Walter ‘Chic’ Bixby. Pearl was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years Lowell Deem Sr. She was predeceased also by her parents Walter and Estella (Carlton) Bixby, her son Lowell Deem Jr., step-daughter Donna (Larry) Moore, and her sisters Lillian Harris and Rosemary Homans.
Pearl was born in Saginaw, Michigan on April 25, 1938. She graduated from Saginaw Arthur Hill high school and married Lowell Deem Sr. on July 2, 1958. Pearl raised her family in Pontiac and worked for many years at Meijer in Waterford. She was a longtime member of FOE 1230.
Pearl was passionate about her family and loved spending time with the late Sophia and Sharon Corby and the Long family. Many children called her ‘Nanabutt’ because she was like a grandmother to them. Although Pearl was diabetic, she loved her sweets. In her last days she listened to her bible daily. Pearl also loved to watch Family Feud with Steve Harvey. Pearl attended World Overcomers Church International in Saginaw where she rededicated her life to Christ in May 2017. She leaves behind a many close friends and family.
Pearl’s family will host a visitation on Wednesday February 7, 2018 from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pixley Funeral Home located at 2904 Orchard Lake road in Keego Harbor. A funeral service will be held Thursday February 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Liberty General Baptist Church located at 3545 Joslyn road in Auburn Hills.
