Raymond Deussen, 92, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, passed away on June 3, 2021. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 23, 1928. His parents and brothers emigrated from Germany in the 1920’s. He grew up on Seyburn St. in Detroit, but moved with his parents to a farm in Hillman, Michigan when he was 16. Ray went on and graduated from Hillman High School and he then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his service in the Army, he moved back to Detroit. He was married to Emma Deussen (Thomson) on June 4, 1955. Ray along with his brother Erick, owned J&E Murphy Sales. He was a member of UGAR’S (United German American Recreation Society) in West Bloomfield. Ray had a passion for travelling, history, his cottage on Lake Avalon, pontooning on Cass Lake and “tinkering” on various projects. He is survived by his wife, Emma Deussen; his children, Diane (Eric) Olsen, Margaret (the late Greg) Chapman, and Lisa (Steve) Wiese; his grandchildren, Brad, Kelsey, Jeremy, Emily, and Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Erick, and Herb. Ray will be remembered as a good husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend who was a hardworking, honest and dependable man. A committal service will be Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 11 AM, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
