Richard Bruce Farms Jr., the eldest son of Richard Bruce (Lynne) Farms Sr. and Linda Sue Farms (Haydel), passed away on June 26, 2025. Known to many as "Rick", he is survived by his parents and his two younger brothers, Jonathan Robert (Tiffany) Farms and Michael David (Hannah) Farms.
Rick had a lifelong love for sports, especially ice hockey. A devoted Detroit Red Wings fan, he spent years collecting jerseys and memorabilia. Though he also enjoyed baseball and basketball, it was on the ice where his passion truly came alive. From a young age, Rick took on the role of mentor to his brothers, often showing them how to do things “Rick’s way.” The park across from his Sylvan Lake home served as the backdrop for countless baseball games with his brothers and neighborhood friends, while winter days were spent skating and playing hockey on the lake with anyone who wanted to join.
Rick had a special gift for bringing people together. For years, “deck nights” at his home became a staple for friends—whether to unwind, watch a Wings game, or just enjoy some music. He welcomed all: childhood friends from Sylvan, classmates from St. Mary’s Prep, teammates from his Lakeland baseball teams, and a few close girls as well. His house became a home base for many, and he was affectionately known as “Farmer,” a nickname given to him by his baseball teammates that stuck with him throughout his life.
Though his final years were marked by struggle, Rick’s memory lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed as a son, a big brother, and the friend we proudly called Farmer.
Rest peacefully, Rick.
