

Samuel John Bykaylo Yanosek, age 20, of Sylvan Lake, was born January 11, 2006 and passed July 22, 2026. Loving son of Matthew Yanosek and Kimberly Bykaylo. Proud grandson of John Bykaylo. Cherished nephew of Michael (Leslie Kelly) Yanosek, Christine (Brian) Miller and Frank Bykaylo. Treasured cousin Joshua Miller, Madelyn Miller, and Tyler Bykaylo. Samuel will be missed by numerous other family members and friends. Samuel was preceded in passing by his grandparents, Joseph and Betty Yanosek, and Natalie Bykaylo.
Samuel, affectionately known as “Sylvan Sam,” embraced life with enthusiasm and found joy in every adventure. He had a wonderful sense of humor that brought laughter to those around him, and he loved creating TikTok videos and short clips that captured his fun-loving personality. He had a deep love for animals, especially his beloved dog, Lulu, and cherished spending time outdoors running and boating. Samuel was proud to be a member of the West Bloomfield High School track, cross-country, and rowing teams, where he built lasting friendships and demonstrated dedication and perseverance. He also loved traveling and making memories wherever life took him. Above all, Samuel treasured his family and friends, whose love and support meant everything to him. He will be remembered for his kind heart, adventurous spirit, infectious smile, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him. To many, he will always be remembered as “Sylvan Sam.”
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at 11:00am (In State 10:00am) at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, 3700 Commerce Road, Orchard Lake. Following the Mass, family and friends are invited to continue celebrating Samuel’s life at a luncheon at Gino’s, 1999 Cass Lake Road, Keego Harbor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
