Veronica "Bonnie" Loretta Schneider (nee Chartier), passed away on April 10, 2018, at 78 years of age.

Dear mother of Sandra (Mark) Heim, Bob (Gail) Schneider, Diane (Bob) Belanger, Debbie (Scott) Portell, Steven (Carol) Schneider, Cynthia (John) Carroll, Catherine (Joey) Hayden, Kimberly Greenfield, and Kurt (Amy) Schneider.

Proud grandmother of 21; great-grandmother of 27; and great-great-grandmother of 3. Sister of Charles Chartier, David Chartier, Louis Chartier, Leonard Chartier, and Arthur Chartier. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Louis Joseph and Loretta Elizabeth Chartier; and her siblings: Elmer Chartier, Marvin Chartier, Delia Chartier, Leo Chartier, Bernadette Chartier, and Gerald Chartier.

Bonnie grew up in Ferndale, near Woodward and 8 Mile, where she attended and graduated from St. James Catholic School. She had great memories of the 1950's and 1960's, especially of dancing, cars, music, and the clothing.

She married Marvin Schneider in 1963, and they raised their family in Westland, MI. The older children were lucky to have her as a stay at home mother. She was there to make lunches, and drive them where they needed to go. It wasn't unheard of for her to burn dinner because she was chasing all the kids. She taught her children valuable lessons, such as believing in yourself, faith, and love. In her spare time, she enjoyed the pool and playing cards with the neighbors.

After divorcing Marvin, Bonnie moved to Garden City with her youngest son Kurt, where he graduated. She retired from Belanger Car Wash, and moved out to Williamston with her daughter Cathy for a few years before settling in Farmington Hills at Baptist Manor. She especially loved her apartment there, along with all of the activities and friends she made.

Bonnie loved traveling to Tennessee to visit her son Kurt and his family. She also traveled to Elk Rapids to visit the Jones' family, whose children were a huge part of her own family.

Closer to home, she enjoyed the Detroit Zoo, the Woodward Dream Cruise, Cedar Pointe, and the Upper Peninsula's sights, especially the shores of Lake Superior and Tahquamenon Falls.

Bonnie loved sewing and hot-gluing gifts for her family. Everyone got something: Afghans, photo album covers, and the quilts that she proudly finished. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, craft shows, shopping, and Shipshewana.

Veronica had a strong commitment to family. We were so lucky to have spent so much time with her sisters, Delia, and Bernie; as well as all her brothers. Her greatest joy was being with her family. She will live in the hearts of all her children, grand kids, great-grand kids, as well as all of her cousins and extended family.

Rest peacefully in Heaven, Mother.

Family will greet friends for a Memorial Mass at 10:00am on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at St. James Catholic Church, 241 Pearson St., Ferndale, MI 48220.
