Bill was born in Ferndale Michigan on May 1, 1931, to Bill and Dot Gailey.
He graduated from Royal Oak High School and attended Wayne State University before enlisting in the air force in 1951, where he was stationed at Lowry Air Force Base outside Denver, Colorado, until 1955. While in the service Bill met and, on Valentine’s Day 1952, married his wife, Cy, of 65 years. After his discharge from the Air Force, Bill and Cy moved back to Michigan, where Bill joined his father to found Globe Meter Company, where he worked until his retirement.
Bill enjoyed a number of hobbies including boating, golf, and, his first love (after Cy), flying. He was a private pilot and spent most of his free time throughout his adult life flying. Even when he was no longer able to fly, he continued visiting with his flying buddies at Pontiac Oakland Airport.
Mostly, Bill was a people person who made friends everywhere. He was a long time member of Kirk in the Hills, and a Stephen’s Minister. Bill loved everyone, and best we can tell, they loved him, too.
Bill is survived by his wife Cy, daughters Sue (Jay) Vincent, Kathleen (Dave) Potter, brother Bob (Janice) and his grandchildren Rebecca Kay (Neal), Kevin and Emily.
