William (Bill) Wright, 89, passed away August 4 at his home in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Detroit, he attended Dearborn High School and served as a Medic in the Air Force during the Korean War, delivering babies. He went on to study at Western Michigan University and received his Masters in Education at Wayne State. He was a biology teacher and counselor at Southfield High School until his retirement. He served as fire commissioner for Tri County Fire in Sylvan Lake.
Bill enjoyed golfing with his friends at San Marino, cooking (and eating), his dogs, traveling and storytelling. But Bill’s greatest joy was his family. Married to Emily (Glenn) for 58 years, they raised six beautiful children in Royal Oak. Bill loved spending time with his grandchildren and later his great-grandchildren. Bill will always be remembered for his kindness and compassion.
He is survived by his children, William (Bethe), Greg (Karen), Jeff (Brenda), Robin (Bryan), Randy (Michelle), Jason (Robyn), 14 very special grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. And preceded in death by his loving wife, Emily, sister Gail, brother Don and his parents.
