

Mr. A.C. “Billy” Harper Sr., a Vietnam Veteran was born on 24 March 1933 in Hallettsville, Texas. He joined the United States Army on 18 May 1967 and retired after twenty years of outstanding service.
For his superior performance in support of combat forces during the Vietnam Campaign, Staff Sergeant Harper was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze Service Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. His additional awards included the Army Commendation Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
After retiring from the Army, he worked ten years with the Civil Service system on Fort Hood. Mr. Harper was a devoted husband and Father. He and his deceased wife, Mildred, were united in marriage in 1953. They were long time residents of Killeen for 38 years. He had a warm and cheerful smile. His kind, loving, joyful and inspiring spirit was memorable to all those who met him. Many knew him as a friend.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Faitheleen Henderson of Waldorf, Maryland, Carmelia Bruce and Shelia Logwood both of Killeen, two sons; A.C. Harper, Jr. of Killeen and Rodney Harper of Lombard, ILL, three brothers; I.A. (Ellen) Harper, Oscar (Elaine) Harper, Samuel (Marie) Harper one son-in-law ; Lieutenant Colonel James A. Henderson, close family friend Percy Beamon, nine grandchildren; Shatoya Milton, Specialist Shana Milton, Sharise Logwood, Shanil Logwood, Samuel Logwood, Jr., Sidney Ray Harper, Jr., Denise Harper, Kristine Harper and Marissa Harper, one great-grandchild, DeShaun Brown and a host of relatives, and friends.
